Dutch Sneakers and Flea-Keepers
by Clef Brown |
Review by KELLY DOOLEY
The story of Dutch Sneakers and Flea-Keepers
by Clef Brown is both poetry and humor. This storybook is filled
with many little poems that are funny and amusing. It is a funny
book! I enjoyed reading this book because it was great.
This book does not have a specific setting.
Each poem takes place in a different location and each story takes place
in a different time dimension. It has many different people in it
and different main ideas.
The main characters vary from story to story.
One of the story's main characters is Tattlesnake. He is a snake
with a man's head and big ear. He sits around all day and tries to
find things to tattle on. Every little kid fears this snake because
he or she doesn't want to get in trouble.
A part of the story that is unusual is about
a man named Ned who got a rash and wouldn't stop scratching it for days.
The doctor placed a plastic cone around his neck so he would not scratch
it anymore. I thought this was unusual because the cone that Ned
had on his neck was made for dogs.
I thought this book was awesome because
it was very funny and the poems were pretty good. The pictures were
also funny and I liked how the poems were short. I think every kid
who enjoys poetry should check this volume out. You won't be disappointed.
