Who Said That?
by Robert Burleigh
Review by KELLY DOOLEY

One of the books that I chose for my book review project is Who Said That? by Robert Burleigh.  Who Said That? is a historical story that is filled with famous American quotes.  This story tells historic information without making it boring.  It also shows really funny pictures of the people who said the quotes.
This story does not have a setting.  It covers many different time periods during the years ranging from 1706 to 1986.  The people who this story is about come from many different countries and many different times, so the knowledge you pick up from reading the story helps to understand the times in which the person lived.
There are many different characters in this story.  One of them is Martin Luther King, Jr.  He was a black man who fought for equal rights for all men.  His famous quote is , "I have a dream."  He always believed in nonviolence.  He always prayed for the rights of African Americans.  His "I have a dream speech" was given in 1963 in Washington, D.C. He was given a Nobel Peace Prize in 1968.
An unusual thing I read in this book was that Daniel Boone was once lost for three days and never admitted it.  He just said, "I've never been lost; but I was bewildered once for three days."
I thought this book was a great way to have kids my age learn about history.  I liked how I was interested to read about each person after looking at the picture that was drawn about them.  I think every kid should read this story because you really learn something.  I give it two thumbs up.
