Midnight Magic
by Avi

Review by Meghan Fitzpatrick

The name of my book is called Midnight Magic.  The author's name is Avi.  This book is about a servant, and an old Magician (whose name is Mangus) trying to solve the mystery of the haunting of a princess.  Beside the princess there is an evil count, a king and a queen.  This is a fiction book.
This story happens around 1491 in the time of knights, castles and kings.  Most of the story takes place in an old, mysterious castle looking over a small town.
In the story, there is a boy named Fabrizio, who is a servant.  He is tall, thin, with brown hair and brown eyes.  Fabrizio is a very mischievous and curious boy.  He is also very caring and willing to help.  Fabrizio is important to the story because he is the one that helps solve the mystery.  He also protects and saves the princess.
The most exciting part was when Mangus, Fabrizio and the Princess Therisina were pretending to bring the dead Prince's ghost back to life.  When this was happening, the princess said, "It's Lorenzo! He has returned!"  The queen said "It's my son!"  Everyone stood there, lost for words.  The king needed to be persuaded that the princess could not marry the Count Scarazoni because he was the one who wanted the crown.  The Prince had to go to France, so the Count ordered his body guard to kill Prince Lorenzo.  What actually happened took me by surprise, and I think that it will be the same with you.
I think twelve-year-olds and up would like this book because its full of mystery, action and suspense.  i myself loved the book.  I could not put it down.  Avi has always been one of my favorite authors
