Amber Brown is Feeling Blue
by Paula Danziger
January 30, 2001
Review by NICOLE PELOSI Grade 6 - Sharks - Hosman

Amber Brown is Feeling Blue  is written by Paula Danziger.  This book is fiction. It is about a girl named Amber Brown. Her parents got divorced and she lives with her mother.  Her father is coming home from Paris, and he is looking forward to spending Thanksgiving with her in New York...but her mother and Max (her mother's boyfriend) want her to spend Thanksgiving with them in Walla Walla.  They leave it up to her to decide and she chooses her father.  She has a great time in New York.
This story takes place in New Jersey where Amber and her mother live.  It also takes place in New York, where she and her dad spend Thanksgiving together.
Amber Brown is the main character in this story.  She is in the third grade.  She has brown hair and brown eyes. She is usually a very happy person. But when she found out that she had to decide who she wanted to spend Thanksgiving with, she became sad for awhile.  She is important to the story because the story is about her and whom she choose to spend the holiday with.
I think that the most exciting part of the story is when she decides whom she wants to spend Thanksgiving with.  "I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.  I don't want them to be mad at me if I don't choose them.  I decided who I'm going to spend Thanksgiving with...I'm going to go with dad."
I thought this book was great.  It was very enjoyable.  I would recommend this to children ages 7 to 10 years old. The reason why I would recommend this book to kids our age is because it is too easy.
