Guidelines for
Writing a Book Review
Paragraph 1:
Give the author and title and briefly indicate what the book is about
without going into great detail. Include book genre:
Nonfiction: Biography, Autobiography
Fiction: Science Fiction, Mystery, Historical Fiction, Romance,
Classic, Contemporary Classic, Sports Related
Paragrah 2:
Describe the setting (where and when) as vividly as you can.
Paragraph 3:
Describe one of the main characters. Include a physical description,
personality traits, and why the character is important in the story.
Paragraph 4: Tell about a part that is exciting or unsual.
Use a direct quotation to add interest and enhance your review.
Paragraph 5:
Give your opinion of the book. Include the audience that would
most enjoy this book and why.
Use Microsoft Word and save your work on a floppy disc.
Make sure to include your name and cluster.
