Social Studies Third Quarter Project Spring 2005 - Date Due: April 5







  

Choose one of the following projects.  Follow the directions carefully.  Each student or group will do a short presentation before the class.  As always, your grade will reflect your level of commitment to the project.  This project will count as a test grade.
 

Ancient Egyptian Newspaper
    1.  Design a daily newspaper on ancient Egypt.
    2.  Use any facts and information you may have researched - along with your imagination - to fashion your newspaper.
    3.  It should be several pages long and contain information pertaining to the ancient civilization of Egypt.  Create your headline with accompanying articles.
    4.  Be as creative as you wish, and remember to include facts, dates and material that are relevant to the time period. 
    5.  You may use computer-generated graphics if you prefer, or you may design your newspaper using material of your choosing.
    6.  Be imaginative and have fun.

A Pharaoh's Biography
    1.  Write a biography of an Egyptian Pharaoh. 
    2.  Choose any ancient Egyptian ruler you wish to learn about.
    3.  Study and research you pharaoh, the compose a comprehensive biography of one type-written or two hand-written pages.
    4.  Be sure to incorporate accurate facts and dates in your report.
    5.  Include all major accomplishments and setbacks.
    6.  Pictures and drawings are not required but are welcome.
    7.  Do NOT copy or print-out from a book, resource of the Internet. Use your own words in your report!

A Phoenician Adventure

Imagine that you are a Phoenician sailor aboard the two-year voyage around Africa.  Trace your route on the map.  Make a travel log that tells about your journey.  Write at least five entries that describe your ship, your captain, the places you saw, the weather conditions, the hardships you encountered, people you met along the way, and your feelings about this trip.
