The last total lunar eclipse visible from all of the United States occured on Jan. 20, 2000. A second total lunar eclipse occured that year on July 16, 2000 and was visible from western U.S. Hawaii and the Pacific Ocean. Another total eclipse took place on Jan. 9, 2001 and was seen from Europe, Africa and Asia. The next total lunar eclipse occurs on May 15-16, 2003 and will be visible from the USA, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, western Europe and Africa. North Americans won't have another opportunity to see a total lunar eclipse until Nov. 8-9, 2003.
