Re-read The Highwayman
Summary:   A dashing highwayman, or thief of the road, rides to an inn to see his love, the innkeeper's beautiful daughter Bess.  He promises to return by the next night.  The stable worker Tim, in love with Bess himself, overhears the couple.  The next day soldiers hunting for the highwayman arrive at the inn.  They gag and tie up Bess, trying a gun to her body, and tell her to keep watch.  She hears her love riding closer.  With no other way to warn him, she pulls the trigger of the gun, killing herself.  The highwayman hears the shot and flees.  The next day, when he learns what happened, he returns and is shot and killed.  The ghosts of the highwayman and Bess are said to haunt the inn.

Panthers - Biographies - March 2002

Hint:  Although each site works a little diferently, in general, it is best to phrase your search in the following order:
Last name, First Name  - for example, King, Martin Luther Jr.
BUT, if your search does not find any results, check that you have spelled the person's name correctly
and repeat your search.  Next, try entering the name in First name Last name order.
No luck?  Don't get discouraged, try another website.

Wilson Web: Wilson Biographies Plus - Type your person's name in the "Type a name" box and click on "search now".  The database will search by name, unless you change any of the limiters.

Lives - Search for your person by clicking on the Letter that starts your person's last name listed as "Individual Lives".  Scroll down the listing, which is arranged alphabetically by last name.
