Resource Information

Although this article is electronically reproduced on the library's website, Ms. Smoller located "Mike Langdon and His Colt" when reading the Danvers Courier newspaper on microfilm housed at the Danvers Archives in the Peabody Institute, Danvers.

The Danvers Courier was a weekly newspaper published on Central Street in the southern village of Danvers (now Peabody Square) from 1845-1849.  It was printed by the Courier Press.

George Carleton was the publisher of the Danvers Courier. 

Fitch Poole, Jr. was an editor of the Danvers Courier.  He is also the author of the article although it appeared under his pen name "W.L.M."

This article appeared Danvers Courier  the on May 10, 1845.

The article also appears in the South Danvers Wizard, January 8, 1862,  The South Danvers Wizard is a weekly newspaper published on Central Street in South Danvers and edited by Fitch Poole.  It was published by Charles Howard.
