Creating Rubrics
Hotlist prepared by Joan Ciampa,
Instruction Technology Specialist.
There are many resources on the Internet for finding existing rubrics or
creating you own in all content and project areas. Below are some of my
favorites:
Rubistar - This site is provided free of charge through a grant from the
US DOE. It is for teachers who want to use rubrics that can be modified to
meet the needs of students. You can search a database of existing rubrics
and easily modify them. The rubrics can be posted easily on the site at no
charge so that students and parents can view it online and/or it can printed.
The tutorial is user-friendly. There is also a link to help you analyze
the data you collect.
Teach-nology -
Includes pre-made rubrics for assessing reading, math, listening, WebQuests,
teamwork, research reports, homework, and others. Basic rubrics are
available at no charge. If you want to make customized rubrics there is a
small fee.
Rona's
Ultimate Teacher Tools - This site is a collection of online tools
including rubrics.
Project Based
Learning Checklists - Free editable checklists for K-12 in the areas of
writing, science, oral and multimedia presentations. Linked from the High
Plains Technology in Education Consortium.
SCORE
(Schools of California Online Resources for Educators) - Examples for research
reports, collaboration, autobiographies, and Hyperstudio presentations.
Also links to rubrics that provide indicators for California writing standards
similar to Massachusetts standards.
